David Talbot is Associate Director of Global Policy at the Milken Institute, where he helps lead research on international trade, economic competitiveness, and climate resiliency. Prior to his doctoral work, David served in the Obama administration as a policy advisor on international economics to the Secretary of Commerce. He has also worked on three US presidential campaigns, volunteered as an Economic Policy Advisory Committee member on Joe Biden for President, and counseled corporate clients on complex geopolitical and economic issues. Dr. Talbot earned a PhD from the University of Cambridge, a master’s degree from the University of Oxford, and a BA from Yale University. He is a member of the Pacific Council on International Policy, the Los Angeles World Affairs Council, and the Asia Society of Southern California, and has published articles in outlets including Foreign Policy, World Politics Review, Lawfare, and the Los Angeles Review of Books.
