New Developments in Macro: Incorporating Uncertainty
Professor Wouter den Haan, LSE
The 2007/2008 Financial Crisis has provided the economics profession with much ammunition on how Uncertainty is an important factor in the origination and development of fluctuations in economic activity. Has the cutting-edge macroeconomic research managed to fully respond to challenges posed by the "dark forces of time and ignorance"?
We are delighted that Professor Wouter den Haan will be joining us to discuss how the events of the 2007/2008 Financial Crisis and subsequent Great Recession have been incorporated into modern macroeconomic thinking. In particular he will focus on the effects of uncertainty and its effect on macroeconomic policy.
Wouter den Haan is Professor of Economics at the London School of Economics and Political Science, the programme director of the CEPR and co-director at the Centre for Macroeconomics. He recently co-authored "The Role of Debt and Equity Finance over the Business Cycle" examining the effects of debt and equity when incorporated into the business cycle model.
